9/11 will always be sad day for our country, it hurt. I'll never forget, everyone from the tristate area knows somebody once or twice removed that died that day. Over the years I've talked to many people with first hand experience with the events of that day.
In Aruba this year, I was talking to a retire member of the NYFD, he's actually only like 56 years old. I asked about 9/11, it brought tears to his eyes although he didn't openly cry. He said "he was there and he lost a lot of friends that day". My neighbor, an airline pilot, says the same thing, he "knew an entire flight crew that died in NYC". My son's former boss used to take the week of 9/11 off every year, he learned her fiancee was a fireman who died on 9/11
Passenger planes were used as a weapon, there are hundreds of thousands of people who witnessed it live that day and I'm not talking about on TV
